Delaware’s Port of Wilmington is a full service, strategically located Mid-Atlantic deep-water port at the confluence of the Christina and Delaware rivers, serving more than 200 million North American consumers. Located just 63 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, it is North America’s leading fresh fruit port, with the largest dock-side refrigerated complex on the continent.

In 2018, Emirati port operator Gulftainer entered into an agreement with the State of Delaware to privately operate the Port of Wilmington under a 50-year lease. Gulftainer will invest approximately $600 million to quintuple the port’s capacity, including construction of a new container-handling terminal. With the goal of a 75 percent increase in traffic for non-containerized goods like liquids and automobiles, Gulftainer intends to establish Wilmington as the largest logistics facility on the Delaware River.
